What should volunteers know about the event?

The Westchester Book Festival is a community-wide celebration of books, ideas, and storytelling. It brings together bestselling authors, local voices, publishing professionals, and readers of all ages. Volunteers are essential to the festival experience—they help with check-in, author talks, book signings, directional guidance, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. Most importantly, volunteers are the friendly faces who help guests feel at home.

Why is it important?
The festival is not just about books—it’s about strengthening our community through shared experiences. By celebrating literature, we honor Westchester’s rich cultural heritage and support the next generation of readers and writers. Volunteers play a key role in making this vision a reality. Without their time, energy, and enthusiasm, the festival couldn’t happen.

What’s the impact?
The Westchester Book Festival uplifts our local libraries, supports small businesses, and highlights Katonah and the surrounding towns as a vibrant cultural hub. It creates moments of inspiration, sparks lifelong love of reading, and connects neighbors meaningfully. For many attendees—whether they meet a favorite author, discover a new book, or enjoy the lively atmosphere—this festival becomes a memory they’ll carry with them for years. Volunteers are at the heart of making those moments possible.
